Dry Needling

What is Dry Needling?

It is important to note that dry needling is not the same as acupuncture. Dry needling is performed by inserting a thin monofilament needle into a trigger point or “knot”. This elicits a brief muscle twitch or contraction. The muscle twitches release the trigger point which reduces muscle tension/pain, increases motion, decreases inflammation and improves strength.

Dry needling is good for people who struggle with:

Dry needling can also help with issues such as Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, neck pain, abnormal posture caused by tight muscles, tension, migraines, Rotator Cuff Tendonitis, post-surgical pain, joint and soft tissue pain, Greater Trochanteric Bursitis, IT Band Syndrome, Piriformis Syndrome, Patellofemoral Dysfunction, painful limps, Arthritis pain, Fibromyalgia, and Polmyalgia Rheumatica.

Dry needling can be implemented as part of your physical therapy. However, DTW also offers a cash pay for dry needling. Call the clinic today for rates or to make an appointment at 320-468-7199.
